Biography
Scott Sohner Gibson, 40, born March 20, 1974, Independence, Mo., passed away April 4, 2014. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, April 13, at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 East 39th Street, Independence, MO 64055. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday, April 14, at Speaks Suburban Chapel. Graveside service immediately following at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, 7601 Blue Ridge Blvd., Kansas City, MO 64138. In lieu of flowers, we ask you to make a donation to the Jillian Gibson Education Fund, PO Box 282, 309 N. Bynum Rd., Lone Jack, MO 64070. Scott was born in La Paz, Bolivia. He came to the States in the summer of 1975, the son of Nancy S. Gibson and John M. Gibson. He grew up in Independence, attended school at Wentworth Military Academy and graduated from Rockhurst University. He worked at Lone Summit Ranch, Lee's Summit, Mo., for 20 years. At the end of his life he was an amazing stay at home dad to his daughter, Jillian. In a previous marriage, Scott had a son, Xavier Gerardo Gibson. Xavier passed away at 22 months of age with a heart defect. Scott leaves behind wife Jennifer, 2 year old daughter, Jillian, mother, Nancy Gibson of Rock Island, Ill.; father and step-mom, John and Judy Gibson of The Villages, Fla.; sisters, Heather Allen and husband of Greenwood, Mo., Jennifer "J.J." Ringgold and husband of Lee's Summit, Mo., Amber Glick of Scottsdale, Ariz.; brother, Josh Glick of Phoenix, Ariz.; five nephews; a niece and many close life-long friends. Scott will be buried next to his son, Xavier.
